Manila Ocean Park - Glass Bottom Boat Ride

Our last gimmick at the Manila Ocean Park is the Glass Bottom Boat Ride which is called such because a portion of the boat is made of glass. The boat floats at a relatively small pool of water which is located above the underwater tunnel.

We were informed that it is 12 feet and that it is super super clear!

Other highlights were the swimming mermaids and diver feeding the fishies!!!

Manila Ocean Park - fish spa

One of the most unforgettable features of Manila Ocean Park is the fish spa!
It read weird I know and it surely feels weird as well!!!

It is located at the second floor of the whole complex. Once you're in, you are given free towels and you'll see right away the little pool where several people are sitting and snickering. So we took off our shoes and rinsed our tired feet and dunked it at the small pool, sat down and then we waited...

these fishes are hungrryy

and they ate the little dirts and grimes in our feet. no wonder my feet feels fresher after. hahaha. i only wonder if these fishes are eaten. poor eaters. hehe

Manila Ocean Park - Underwater Tunnel

The chamber called "Buhay na Karagatan" is the rockstar of Manila Ocean Park where numerous photo ops shall take place including my family!

The 25 meter walk is a memorable walk and should be experienced once in your lives. The first time I entered I was awestruck by the turquoise and clear water, the many fishes and the beautiful way the whole thing flowed and lit.

I know, it is unnaturally lit and designed to look natural and fresh but that's the idea of the whole thing...for it to look exceptionally fresh and amazing and yes, it is effective! I now want to have my own acquarium and I will never use plastic again to preserve our marine life. That's how a trip to Manila Ocean Park can do to an urbanite wander girl like me.

The next stops where "Ang Kalaliman" (the deep), "Pating" and "Pagi" which were relatively small compared to the grandiose of "Buhay na Karagatan". But it doesn't matter you can walk around the whole area as long as you like and you can go back and forth from one chamber to another, go out to Agos again and back inside.

So cough up that 400 bucks (or 500 if you want the other interesting add ons) and experience the magnificence of the sea. So worth it.

Manila Ocean Park - the journey

Once inside the Manila Ocean Park, one will be arrested by the different sights and experiences through the seven different highlights or rather "chambers" that the local Oceanarium has to offer.

The first highlight is called "Agos", where one will begin the journey with a jungle-like trek complete with manicured gardens, crocodiles and flora. We later discovered that most species in Agos are freshwater species like turtles, crocodiles and the like.
The second highlight called "Bahura" is an attack of the senses. From daylight greens of Agos, we entered the dark alleys highlighted by beautifully lit aquariums featuring intricate coral reefs. Our family got crazy taking photos of the cute and ultra colorful fishes!

Next stop was "Laot" which featured huge fish tanks with cutesy industrial stuff used as coral substitute. My cousins had a great time playing with it.

Let me continue the next journey with another post because the next chamber "Buhay na Karagatan" deserve a page of its own!

Manila Ocean Park - entrance

Last Sunday, the family and I went to Manila Ocean Park. I have been hearing a lot of buzz about our version of world class oceanarium which was opened to the public in 2007.

I have never been to any oceanarium so I had no point of comparison. But based on the photos, I can say that it isn't too behind with its Hong Kong and Singapore counterparts.

Here are some information about Manila Ocean Park, from http://www.manilaoceanpark.com
Admission - General Public
Adults : Php 400.00
Kids (4.5 ft and below) : Php 350.00

But just fresh from Holiday season, the Manila Ocean Park has a promo where just with an additional 100 pesos, one can get a tour of the Oceanarium, plus variations of having a boat ride, fish spa and encounter with jelly fish! We chose to have the Manila Ocean Park fish spa and Manila Ocean Park Glass-Bottom boat ride.
